FG Headlights Install Notes
Headlight Installation Guide (VIDEO AT THE END)
Before installing your new headlights, please read through the following instructions to ensure you have everything required for a smooth installation. Please take the time to read through the guide before watching the install video for a few additional install points.
Before You Begin
Your new headlights come 90% pre-assembled. A few components will need to be transferred from your original headlights:
- Dust covers
- Indicator globe + socket (twist-out)
We recommend cutting the last ridge off the High Beam Dust cover for it to sit around the fan/heat sink of the LED as per the images bellow.
For XR6 Lights ONLY
- Parker globe + socket (twist-out)
Install all required components onto the new headlight before fitting it to the vehicle.
Note:
If your existing parker globes are the factory warm/yellow colour, we recommend upgrading to a T10 6000K white LED globe to match the colour temperature to the rest of the headlight. These are inexpensive and readily available from most automotive retailers.
Wiring Instructions
MK1
- The main harness plugs directly into the projector and connects to your factory H4 plug. (Please ensure polarity is correct! Red with red, black with black)
- Once connected, to keep wiring neat, fold the wiring over itself and secure it using a cable tie or electrical tape.
- The high beam H7 globe plugs directly into your factory high beam plug:

At the factory high beam plug, green/yellow is positive, black is negative (Positive and negative are marked on the globe plug as + , -)
- If the plug is a different size/too skinny, check your original headlight globe — the factory Ford H7 adapter may still be attached and will need to be transferred over

MK2
- The spade connects from your projector plug straight into your factory low beam H7 plug (please ensure polarity is correct, positive with positive, negative with negative...)

- The connectors should fit snug and be difficult to pull out; however, if needed, you can wrap some electrical tape around the plug and cables to keep them in position.
- The high beam H7 globe plugs directly into your factory high beam plug:

Note:
Before finalising the installation and bolting everything back on, test that the headlight and all its functions work correctly. This will make any troubleshooting significantly easier whilst everything is accessible
Installation & Alignment
Once the headlights are installed, correct alignment is essential to ensure safe visibility and to avoid dazzling other drivers. These headlights are significantly brighter than standard units, making proper adjustment extremely important.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface facing a wall so the beam pattern and cut-off height can be clearly observed
- Turn on the headlights and check how the light is projected - your aiming for the light to project straight, not upwards, not downwards.
- Open the bonnet and locate the adjustment points on the rear of the headlight housing - these are white 6mm Allen key bolts:
- Outer adjustment bolt – controls vertical (up/down) alignment
- Inner adjustment bolt – controls horizontal (left/right) alignment (typically does not require adjustment)
- To get this perfect straight away - measure the height to the centre of the headlight, then adjust so that the cut-off reflects that same height on the wall.
Note:
When matching the heights of the 2 headlights, match both top lines and both bottom lines (this will make sense when you go to adjust the lights - the cut-off drops down on the RHS to lower the beam for oncoming drivers)
Finally - Test drive the car and make adjustments as required - its easiest to go back to a wall to make adjustments to ensure both projectors are set at the same height, this gives a sharp and crisp cut-off.

- These headlights are significantly brighter than standard units. Incorrect alignment may cause glare for other drivers, so please take the time to ensure proper setup.
